1. Who we are

Valmont Gadgets ("we", "us") operates valmontgadgets.com — a marketplace for phones, laptops and accessories in Ghana, run from Accra. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to it.

2. What we collect

• Account data: email address and display name when you sign in (including via Google), and your Ghana phone number when you provide it.
• Seller verification: to list a phone you give us a Ghana Card number and a live selfie. The Card number is never stored in plain text, the selfie is matched to your Card by our reviewer, kept private, and never shown to other users.
• Listing data: photos, model, condition, price and the WhatsApp number you choose to show on your listings.
• Messages & leads: interest messages, names and phone numbers you send through the swap board or order flow.
• Usage data: pages visited, device type and approximate region via cookies and analytics (Google Analytics and Meta Pixel), used to understand what stock people look for.

3. How we use it

• Run the marketplace: show listings, connect buyers and sellers, arrange delivery.
• Verify sellers and review listings before they go live, and prevent fraud, stolen phones and fake accounts.
• Contact you about your order, listing or lead (usually on WhatsApp or phone).
• Meet our legal obligations under Ghana law.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not show your Ghana Card details or selfie to other users.

4. Where it is stored

Accounts, listings and messages live in a secured cloud database (Supabase) protected by row-level security; photos and pages are served through our hosting provider (Vercel). Access inside Valmont is limited to the admin account.

5. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies for sign-in sessions and for Google Analytics / Meta Pixel measurement. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the site still works, though sign-in may be affected. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Analytics.

6. How long we keep it

• Account and listing data: until you delete them or ask us to.
• Verification records (Card match result, selfie): while your account is active and for a fraud-prevention period after, as Ghana law permits.
• Banned-account markers (phone, Card hash): kept to enforce bans.

7. Your rights

Under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to processing. Message us on WhatsApp +233 542 451 578 or through the contact options on this site and we will action it within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

8. Children

The marketplace is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
